Guanajuato, was founded in 1570. It was officially declared a city in 1741 by the King of Spain Felipe V.
Our city is one of the most important of the country historically and culturally. Its monumental
constructions, tunnels, seats, alleys and estudiantinas, make visitors get involved by the magic city and
making it a singular and unique city in the world.
It was declared Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO in 1988.

Alhóndiga de Granaditas Museum. This building was a very important scene during the independence movement. Historical documents, paintings and objects can be appreciated in this historical place.
Diego Rivera's Museum. House of the great artist Diego Rivera, where you could appreciate Rivera's
work.
Museo iconográfico del Quijote. Where you can appreciate many works dedicated to Don Quijote de la Mancha,
in addition you could see art from painters like Dalí, Rafael and Pedro Coronel.
Town's Museum. Religious and civil art of the XVIII and the XIX century are exhibited here, art made by José Chávez Morado, a native artist.
Mummies Museum. You could see 119 mummified bodies, that are conserved due to different types of minerals the ground contains, located in the back part of the municipal pantheon.
Olga Costa-José Chávez Morado. Works of these two painters are appraised here.
Museum of Mineralogy. A mineral collection and a different kind of rocks are shown here.
Museum Alfredo Dugés. Where units of reptiles, batrachians, fishes, mammals, insects, birds, plants, grafts , fruits, minerals, bones and fossils are shown.
Ex-hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera's museum. Paintings and furniture of the XVII century are exhibited here and 17 gardens represent diverse countries.
Museo de la inquisición. Ex-hacienda de Cochero was builded in the XVII century, where the instruments of torture in that time are appraised.
