I am a mother of a young gay man who died of AIDS 15 years ago. The process to understand his homosexuality and to accept his death has been long and painful many times. During this process I discovered new worlds and many extraordinary people but, most important of all, I found my own meaning of life without which I believe we don’t fully live but only vegetate.

Now I am part of the International Association of Parents Pro Sexual Diversity and I coordinate one of five Support Groups of Parents and Friends of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender in Mexico. We are located in the city of Jalapa, Veracruz State.

During the last International AIDS Conference 2008 I realized that we also urgently need an International Support Group for Parents and Friends of Persons Living with HIV or who already have AIDS. Thus, under the umbrella of the Fundación Hacia un Sentido de la Vida, A.C. (FUNSEVIDA) – Towards a Meaning of Life Foundation – of which I am a founding member, we start this new self support group with the purpose of providing some consolation and orientation or at least to be good listeners to those who are going trough rough and painful times.

For now, we will communicate via Internet. Time will tell if we can carry on with this project in person with self support groups all over the world.

Please, get in touch. You can count on me
